Proposals for Doctors Surgery - now available online

A public consultation event was held on Thursday 14th June 3.00pm to 8.00pm to exhibit proposals for the proposed doctor's surgery on land opposite St Mary's RC Church off Kiddemore Green Road in Brewood. Held at Brewood Methodist Church Hall, School Road, Brewood ST19 9DS the event provided an opportunity for the community to view the proposals and ask questions of the design team. Details were also made available at Brewood Library off Newport Street.

The proposal previously exhibited is now available here: site layout, plans, aerial view. If you would like to share your views on the proposal with the Parish Council and the wider community please use the 'Forum' on this web site. The Parish Council is not aware that any plans have as yet been submitted to South Staffordshire Council, the local planning authority, although it is understood they are due to be submitted in the next few weeks. A copy of the plans will be forwarded to the Parish Council offices when they are available. It is not known whether the plans will include any changes to the published proposal.


Brewood Park Re-opens After Extensive Refurbishment

The Parish Council is pleased to announce that the refurbished park is now open to the public. The project to replace the play equipment at the Council's playing field in Engleton Lane, Brewood has come about through the collaborative efforts of the Parish Council,representatives of the local community and the Brewood Phoenix Youth Group. The generous contribution of a £19,000 grant provided by The Veolia Environmental Trust made through The Landfill Communities Fund was key to this project getting underway. Allotments - Accessibility

The Coven Heath Allotments Association continues to be pro-active in identfying ways of further enhancing the allotments in Ball Lane. Discussions are currently in progress with Members of Brewood and Coven Parish Council with Bishops Wood and Coven Heath to consider the availability of allotments for re-allocation and the requirement for raised beds that could provide access for the disabled and smaller than usual taster plots for those new to allotments and young people who want to 'give it a try'.

As the tenancy renewals for 2012/2013 are finalised hopefully more news will be available soon. If you are interested in the possibility of a taster plot or an allotment that supports access for the disabled please use 'Contact Us' above.


Bishops Wood Best Kept Village Poster Competitions

Calling all Bishops Wood children  -  posters are still required for the 5 to 7 and 8 to 11 year old children’s poster competition and to add to the display of posters around the village. You can submit more than one entry so don’t hold back! Posters need to be A4 and should showyour awareness of and involvement in the competition. An A4 template can be obtained from Tony Sloane by phoning 01902 840003 and completed posters should be dropped off to number 17 Tong Road in Bishops Wood. Once again Brewood and Coven Parish Council with Bishops Wood and Coven Heath is sponsoring the children's poster competition in all the villages in the Parish and a total of £25 in prizes will be available to lucky winners in Bishops Wood. The best poster in each age group will also be entered in to the County Competition, run by the Community Council of Staffordshire.

Details are also now available for the 11 to 16 year olds poster competition which this year has a theme “In Remembrance” and can be in the form of a poem, picture, essay, drawing etc or a combination. The “In Remembrance” competition is sponsored on behalf of The National Memorial Arboretum and will be judged the Community Council of Staffordshire’s Best Kept Village Competition Working Group and a representative from the National Memorial Arboretum. All entries must be submitted by 24 June 2012 and a prize of £30 will be awarded to the winner. Entry details will be available from the Bishops Wood Youth Club on Wednesday evenings.
